We are looking for a Business Development Manager (with notable experience in social media and influencer marketing) for Social Squad, a new social media influencer agency that connects brands with influencers.

As a division of Mamamia.com.au (one of Australia's largest independent media companies), Social Squad expands on 10 years of media and social media industry expertise.

The right candidate will:

  • Have a proven track record in new business development, be motivated to hit revenue targets and close new business
  • Be extensively experienced in the social media influencer space
  • Thrive in an environment with varying responsibilities and minimal established processes and procedures

Although your immediate team will be small, you'll be working out of the positive, fun and friendly Mamamia office space. This means there's a much larger team of people around you with plenty of experience to gain and room to grow.

About the Role:

New Business Development

The primary focus of the role is driving new business:

  • New business development in the social media space, driving business from: brands, agencies and small businesses who are looking to engage with social media influencers
    • Outbound sales prospecting (through emails, cold calling, networking, existing relationships, agency meetings and digital marketing initiatives)
    • Responding to inbound leads/briefs
    • Preparing proposals, running sales meetings, closing business
  • Networking and relationship building with prospects and clients ¬†with the purpose of creating revenue opportunities and receiving briefs;
  • Setting up a new sales operation: Identify and prioritize key business targets, establishing the most effective go-to-market approach, assist in creating appropriate sales collateral and taking initiatives to ensure rapid traction for the business.

Social Media and Influencer Marketing Strategy/Campaign Planning

In addition to a proven ability to drive revenue and close new business:

  • A high degree of social media and influencer marketing campaign knowledge and strategy is required for the role. You will take a consultative approach to:
    • Listening to client briefs and clearly understanding desired outcomes
    • Responding with custom social influencer campaign recommendations and strategy, including recommendation of suitable influencers, appropriate messaging and overall campaign structure (number of influencers, types and amount of content required, volume and timing of social media posting etc.)
  • The ability to convey credibility and expertise on the topics of social media strategy and influencer marketing strategy as part of the sales process
  • Maximising social influencer campaign results for the clients

About you:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in new business development / outbound sales - a real sales rockstar!
  • Minimum 1 year experience in the social media industry, preferably directly involved with social influencers
  • An extensive understanding of the key social media influencer platforms
  • A self starter. Can organise yourself and operate independently without regular management oversight
  • You're motivated and driven to close new business, upsell existing clients and hit sales targets without a big team supporting you
  • You're confident planning and running your own sales meetings
  • Can effectively manage client expectations
  • Exceptional communication (verbal, written and face-to-face)
  • You Possess a PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) and wow your clients and co workers every day
  • Willingness to collaborate while adapting a measured approach in a fast-paced, startup environment
  • Ability to be proactive and take initiative to find creative solutions and get the job done
